Our Sustainable and Ethical Ethos

Our Sustainable and Ethical Ethos

When our founder Alice Asquith launched Asquith in 2002 she wanted to create a brand that would have as little impact to the environment as possible whilst offering super soft, super flattering clothes that every woman would feel comfortable in. We wanted to share with you our ethos here at Asquith so you know exactly what you’re wearing when you are in our ethical activewear.

Our fabrics

We use the eco-friendly fabrics organic cotton and bamboo to make our ethical activewear.

Our bamboo is grown in a sustainably managed forest. It’s sustainable and environmentally low-impact and it grows faster and absorbs more carbon dioxide than hardwood trees. We use no chemical fertiliser or pesticides and it uses very little water to grow plus it’s breathable, naturally anti-bacterial and sweat wicking making our ethical yogawear perfect for life on and off the mat.

We use organic cotton that is grown, knitted and dyed in Turkey and is GOTS certified – ethically grown, chemical free and responsibly manufactured plus it uses far less water than traditional cotton.

Both our fabrics are Oeko-Tex certified which means that the fabric is processed without the use of harmful chemicals in the dyeing and finishing process. You can find out more about our organic fabrics here.

Our Clothes

We make ethical activewear that lasts! Using the best quality durable fabrics that don’t fade, stretch or bobble. This means you can wear them for longer avoiding fast fashion (one of the world’s biggest polluters) and so our ethical yoga clothes are better for you and better for the planet.

Our factory

All of our clothes are responsibly made in our family run factory in Turkey.

Founded in 1997 by a Turkish businesswoman, the 50 strong team work 8.5 hours a day, have weekends off and paid holiday plus they get to enjoy amazing freshly made food every day on their roof terrace.

We have been working with them for over 10 years and we love to visit as much as we possibly can!

Our Team

Our team is made up of nearly an all women team of all ages who are based all over the UK. We have very flexible working hours to help those with children manage their time as well as they possibly can and we encourage people to travel and take their laptop and work with them whilst they are away. We believe we can recruit and retain outstanding, productive employees by offering flexible-working hours and remote working.
