I studied a degree that included Chinese studies and Mandarin. This resulted in taking a job with the British Council teaching in a government run secondary school after graduating in 2008. It was whilst in China that I discovered what an incredible plant bamboo truly is. It is a super hero among plants being rapidly renewable and incredibly fast growing. I made anagrams of the word bamboo and came up with Mabboo - our logo also comprises the Chinese character for bamboo

At the core of this is to use bamboo as the most sustainable alternative to a vast array of products. Bamboo is so versatile that it can be used to make anything from biodegradable toothbrushes to bamboo bikes. Mabboo as the original bamboo brand is a showcase for this.

If you could share one tip for someone who wants to live more ethically and sustainably in 2019 what would it be and why?Small changes can have a big impact…it’s just a one plastic toothbrush said one billion people…
Thanks to my time in China I’m a huge tea addict! Our reusable tea flask keeps drinks hot for hours on end so is perfect for long journeys and the bamboo wrap is beautiful.
