Yoga poses for strength

Yoga poses for strength

We asked some of our favourite yoga teachers to share their top poses for cultivating strength in their practice. From headstands to plank, after plank, after plank, these ladies know their stuff.

I love wearing your supportive yoga top, the Conquer Cami. It's so soft and keeps everything in place no matter the position.

Can you tell us your favourite yoga pose for cultivating strong Arms?

Chaturanga Dandasana. It is a vital pose when doing Sun Salutations during a Vinyasa flow. It helps strengthen and tone the whole of my body and especially helps with my arm strength.

Strong legs?

Warrior ll. It is great for stretching and lengthening leg muscles, and leads nicely into other poses.

A strong core?

Headstands for sure! They are relaxing, fun and you can do them anywhere! It’s a pose that improves greatly with practice.

Strong Mental Health?

I like to eat well. This includes lots of vegetarian food and smoothies. I like practicing yoga and getting outside in nature. I also find it effective to talk about my feelings and listen to others.

Favourite Asquith item?

For sure the Flow With It Leggings. They are super soft and really supportive when I am in full flow.

Can you tell us your favourite yoga pose for cultivating strong Arms?

Chaturanga everyday!

Strong legs?

One of my all time favourites, the chair pose.

A strong core?

Not everyone's favourite but the plank!

Strong Mental Health?

Sukasana can really help in a frantic moment. Just sit with one hand resting on the chest, one on the belly and breathe. it's amazing!

The Balance Bra Top is really soft and supportive. Unlike most sports bras it keeps you cool and comfortable throughout your practice.

Rosie Blake, Yogi and Yoga Teacher

Can you tell us your favourite yoga pose for cultivating strong Arms?

There's nothing like Chaturanga for creating strong yoga arms, but it's a pose I see so many people doing wrong without realising which can result in injury very easily! Build up your strength by practicing with your knees down before you go for the full pose!

Strong legs?

I love to include a Warrior dance in my sequences, flowing through Warrior I, II, reverse warrior and extended side angle with each breath. It's great for building up your leg strength and feels so empowering to flow through!

A strong core?

I like to work on core strength by adding more to plank pose - hover one leg and crunch your knee to nose, right and left biceps to add an easy core workout into your flow.

Strong Mental Health?

The biggest reason I love yoga is for the effect it has on my mind, not my body. Headstand is my favourite pose for calming me down mentally, or legs up the wall for a gentler inversion.

Favourite Asquith item?

The Move It Leggings. I have travelled all over the world wearing them and I swear they have got softer each wash.
