This week we share the places to go and the things to do to feel well when you only have 24 hours in London. From massages to walks in the great outdoors, check out our favourite things to do to indulge in some in self-care in one of the busiest cities in the world.
Early risers should take a trip to Hyde park where they can watch the Serpentine Swimming Club enjoy their daily dip in the pond’s sometimes icy cool water (even in the summer). If you are feeling brave enough join in and work up a sweat alongside the ducks and the royal swans.
Fill up on healthy breakfast at one of our favourite restaurants, Farm Girl. With multiple locations to choose from (our favourite one is in Notting Hill just a few minutes from Portobello Market), tuck into freshly made avocado on toast, turmeric lattes, eggs and so much more. All dishes are gluten free, refined sugar free and are served colourfully in Instagram friendly styles. It’s the perfect place to people watch and get ready for the day.
Reconnect with nature and discover London’s many great outdoor spaces. We like to alternate our visits so we explore new green areas each time. This week we are discovering the summer flora in Battersea Park with a walk along the Thames to take in the famous Buddha Statue.
There are so many amazing studios to try a new class or to get in your yoga practice. Tri Yoga has recently opened a studio in Shoreditch with multiple classes from Yoga to Barre. Shop our organic cotton and bamboo yoga clothes and go for a trial session and leave all of your stresses on the mat.
Stock up on all your favourite wellness goodies and discover new products at Planet Organic. With stores all over London, it’s a great place to browse delicious recipe ideas, shop the very best health and wellness products or to simply grab juice and watch the word go by.
Our new favourite discovery is Ayurveda Pura. Tucked away in North Greenwich (easy to get to on the Jubilee line) it’s a haven amongst the hustle and bustle of London life. Founded by Ayurvedic doctor, qualified yoga teacher and lecturer Dr. Deepa Apté as a place for Londoners to check in and restore both their mental and physical state. Using the ancient art of Ayurvedic medicine Dr Apté offers a range of treatments including traditional body treatments, spa packages and even workshops and accreditation for those interested in further advancing their Ayurvedic knowledge. We recommend booking in for a consultation with Dr Apté so she can establish your dosha (Ayurvedic energetic body type) and help get you back into balance. With a range of products made specifically by Dr Apté for Ayurveda Pura including teas and other traditional herbal remedies you can be sure you are in safe hands.
If you have time we recommend booking in for an Abhyanga massage for the ultimate rejuvenation after a long day. Using warm organic sesame seed oil blended with essential oils, this transformative and grounding massage uses long strokes to help bring calmness and clarity to your mind, restore your body and leave you feeing refreshed and renewed. With showers on site and a café to re-hydrate after it’s the perfect way to end the day leaving you rejuvenated and restored and feeling like a new person.
