Getting back to your Pilates practice postpartum can be a daunting task especially if you don’t know where to start, which is why we have partnered up with Body Control Pilates and their founder Lynne Robinson to bring you some of their top tips for getting back to the mat and a sequence from their new video subscription channel to get you started.

Lynne has worked with many postnatal clients and having been one herself, we asked her to share some top tips for getting back to the mat post baby;

– Pelvic floor exercises are top of your exercise priority list .

– Second on your list comes exercises to repair your abdominals which will have stretched and may have divided .

– Try not to compare yourself to other mothers . All pregnancies, births, babies and new mums are different!

– Ten minutes exercising without the little one is worth an hour with them in tow. So if possible get someone to look after them so you can focus on yourself .

– Last but by no means least , take it slowly. Your pregnancy hormones will still be affecting you so build up your strength and flexibility gradually.
