What was the inspiration behind starting your blog, and has your direction changed since you began blogging?

I started my blog in 2010 as a way to document my journey back to finding balance after a disordered relationship with food. It was a creative outlet for me and still is but has become so much more. My blogging direction has definitely changed and I now focus more on wellbeing and helping women find their own version of balance.

Why do you think so many of us aren’t very good at looking after our own health and wellbeing?

Personally, I think it’s because there are too many people out there telling us what the next perfect diet is out there or latest fitness fad. Yes, these regimes may have worked for them, but everyone is different and what works for one isn’t going to work for another. Tuning into your body and becoming more intuitive puts you back in control and enables you make decisions focused on your bodies needs.

How do you keep physically and / or mentally healthy?

I base everything around what feels good to be at that point in my life. Forcing myself to do something that I hate doesn’t work and I’m more likely to do it less. So, joy is one of the main focuses when it comes to pursuing health and wellness.

What are your top tips for maintaining great physical and / or mental wellbeing?

Honour and respect your bodies needs, love yourself unconditionally and remember that a number on the scales does not define your worth.

Tell us one thing that our blog readers may not know about you…

I have a PhD in Neurobiology. I’m a closet science geek!

What was the last book you read?

Body Positivity Power by Megan Crabbe

What is your favourite uplifting quote of all time?

“You can do anything, but you can’t do everything” – I find great comfort in this.
