Meet the gorgeous Coco. Yoga teacher, DJ, blogger, and nominee in the lifestyle category of the Asquith Adores Blogger Awards. We asked Coco 5 questions to help you get to know her a little bit better.

Blogger Coco Tiekle

What was the inspiration behind starting your blog?

I lost my Dad to suicide in 2016 and after years of being unhappy and just coasting along in a job and life that I had zero passion for, I decided that his loss would be the catalyst for some major change in my life. As a long-time manager of anxiety and depression myself, his loss was a huge realisation for me that I needed to change my life entirely. So not only did I quit my job and became self-employed as a yoga teacher, meditation guide, blogger and DJ (haha yes, I also DJ) but we (being me and hubby) moved from Australia to London!

I’d always been interested in health, wellness and wellbeing so just started sharing my own insights, experiences and discoveries and being a major oversharer, people seemed to like my honesty! I talk about all things from mental health, self-care, to fertility and balancing hormones, to adaptogens, Ayurveda, yoga, crystals, the works. If it pops into my head or sparks my interest, I’ll write about it and try make it an ultimate 101 guide for my readers!

What is the one thing you wish you knew when you started your blog

I actually held myself back from writing when I first started as I put so much pressure on myself for it to be ‘perfect’. For it to be the perfect title, perfect writing, perfect grammar. I must have changed my website and blog about a million times. It wasn’t until one day I just sat down and wrote in my own voice, without trying to be ‘perfect’ that it began to flow. And then it became easier and easier! Now I feel like I’m bursting at the seams with ideas and there’s so much more joy for me in writing rather than feeling like it’s something I had to do once a week.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?

To forgive yourself and others. I don’t even know where I read or heard this but I don’t think it truly sunk in until I start to put it into practice. So much of my own pain and suffering came from punishing myself over my past, my mistakes, my stumbles, my failures and for what? To what end? For whom? I realised that this was seriously holding me back and not serving me whatsoever. What was the point of it? I also, over time, began to forgive those who I felt had wronged me and it was life changing. I felt a weight lift off of me. As I’ve grown, I’m now an incredibly forgiving person. That’s not to say that you have to be a doormat or even maintain a relationship with someone, but forgiveness equals freedom – for you, most of all.

Tell us one thing that our blog readers may not know about you…

I am incredibly impulsive (perhaps my Aries side coming out!) and so when I decide I’m going to do something, I literally do it then and there. As such, being a big herbal tea drinker I used to operate a herbal tea business in Australia that was actually quite successful! I literally started an Instagram account one night and the next day had ordered my organic teas and herbs to hand blend for specific concerns. I also LOVE raw chocolate and had a small raw chocolate business (think raw snickers bars, coffee cream and pistachio praline, hazelnut fudge) and supplied to a few local cafes, again, I started overnight! I now only make them for fun but I’m a great ‘get it off the ground’ and ideas person….and a not so great ‘let’s now stick with this’ kinda person haha. I’m working on that!

And finally, is there anything you would like to share with our readers?

A little bonus one – life is damn short. We don’t realise often until something tragic happens and some of us will use it for change – and others won’t. Don’t be in the bracket of coasting for your whole life and wake up at 80 (if you’re lucky!) wondering why you didn’t follow your dreams, studied that course, started that blog, visited that country, told that person you loved them. We stress and worry so much about the little silly things that often we let the big important things fall to the wayside.
