As a Pilates teacher I seem to spend my life in activewear. Now that I’m pregnant it’s even more important to me that the clothes I teach and practice in offer comfort as well as style.

I presumed at first that I would have it easy and not have to hunt for maternity activewear. Spending your days in leggings probably sounds ideal to most pregnant ladies, but my more synthetic leggings and tops clung tightly to my bump and left me feeling hot and sweaty. Not a great look for a Pilates teacher! I’ve found that Asquith’s bamboo yoga clothing helps me to keep cool and feels great against my skin. The fabric is so lightweight and soft, and doesn’t restrict my movement.

I wanted clothing that I could wear throughout my pregnancy, which would accommodate my growing bump and body. As a first time mum I’ve felt quite conscious of my changing shape, particularly when standing in front of a room of people to teach. I like the longer length of Asquith’s tops, which sit flatteringly over my bump and do not rise up. Their bamboo yoga pants and leggings have a soft elastic waist band and are so comfy I’ve taken to wearing them pretty much all the time. There’s nothing worse than feeling restricted around your tummy when pregnant, especially when plagued with sickness or acid reflux!

Another bonus is that Asquith is an ethical exercise clothing brand, so I know I’m doing a little bit for the environment as well. I’m sure that I will continue to wear Asquith beyond my pregnancy, both for my teaching and day to day life.
