A New Year is always a time for reflection at Asquith HQ. This year rather then setting  a new years resolution for ourselves we are also going to be setting a goal that helps the planet to help make 2019 our year of eco-friendly living. We hope it inspires you to do the same.

Alice Asquith – Founder and Creative Director

What are your New Year’s Resolutions and why?

Personally – to rush around less. As an Aries I tend to always be so busy and don’t take enough time to just ‘be’.

Professionally – take more time to step back and work on improving our ethical footprint

What will you do to try to live with more ‘wellness/self care’ in 2019?

Improve my sleep. Going through a long period of insomnia which is very dull

What is the one thing you are doing to help the planet in 2019?

Buy less. Quite simple.

What do you think everyone should do in 2019 to help the planet?

See above!

Danielle – Social Media and Content

What is are your New Year’s Resolutions and why?

I am going to learn to play the piano in 2019. I think that it is important to have a creative outlet and it will take me away from a computer.

What will you do to try to live with more ‘wellness/self care’ in 2019?

Learn how to switch off and do nothing.

What is the one thing you are doing to help the planet in 2019?

For me, eco-living is a huge part of my daily life so I would like to help educate people in 2019 to help them make better, wiser more conscious decisions and quickly. We have a responsibility and I fear we are running out of time.

What do you think everyone should do in 2019 to help the planet?

Everyone should watch ‘Cowspiracy’ on Netflix. Not only will it help you to understand the needs of the planet but it will also impact the way you look after yourself and make choices. Documentaries are a great way to learn so I would also encourage parents to get their children to watch some of the great ones such as; ‘Before the Flood’ and ‘What the Health’ but also for the parents to watch them too.

Amy – PR and Promotions

What is your New Year’s Resolution and why?

To spend less time on my phone and online.  I think we’ve all become so device obsessed and I want to be more present, in particular where my children are concerned.  I limit their device time so I need to show them a good example.

What will you do to try to live with more ‘wellness/self care’ in 2019?

I am focusing on eating a more alkaline diet meaning I will be eating more organic food and less meat. I’d also like to make more time for my yoga practice instead of focusing purely on cardio. I think it’s good to slow down and I’ve found yoga and Pilates great for easing my back pain and helping with my posture.

What is the one thing you are doing to help the planet in 2019?

I struggle to choose one but here are some;

  • Remembering to always take my own coffee cup to coffee shops.
  •  Avoid packaged products in the supermarket
  • Shopping local.

What do you think everyone should do in 2019 to help the planet?

I think if everyone can make at least one simple swap in their daily life then it would make a huge difference.

Katherine – Customer Services

What is are your New Year’s Resolutions and why?

More exercise in the fresh air. I am moving house which is near a park and my new years resolution is to get daily excercise outside

What will you do to try to live with more ‘wellness/self care’ in 2019?

Increase my water intake (using a refillable bottle).

What is the one thing you are doing to help the planet in 2019?

Recycle and re-use every chance you get. Whether it’s a glass jar or newspaper. Think about things twice before you throw them away.

What do you think everyone should do in 2019 to help the planet?

Recycle as much as you can and don’t use plastic bottles. It’s so simple and so obvious but it still angers me when I see people buying them. There are water fountains in most places now so it’s an unnecessary habit.

Rosie – Digital Marketing

What is/are your New Year’s Resolution/s and why?

I never make huge resolutions at New Year as it is then too easy to slip up and feel guilty. Instead I just make myself a promise each year to try and live my best life, not worry about things too much and be a good person to others. Simple 😊

What will you do to try to live with more ‘wellness/self care’ in 2019?

That’s a tricky one, as a business woman and mother it is very hard to find ME time. I will continue to try and make time to exercise regularly and also keep up my choir singing. Singing is brilliant for completely switching off, I recommend it to everyone.

What is the one thing you are doing to help the planet in 2019?

Just be more conscious about everything I buy. Do I really need it? Will I get enough use out of it? I am also trying totally avoid single use plastic.

What do you think everyone should do in 2019 to help the planet?

The single use plastic issue is a big one and not that hard to follow. Stop using take away coffee cups or straws. Take your own water bottle around with you. It’s horrific how much plastic we all use.

Katie – Brand and Communications

What are your New Year’s Resolutions and why?

Put down my phone after work. Playing with my children, reading a book, talking to my husband, making something, cooking a new recipe – there’s a thousand better things I could be doing.

What will you do to try to live with more ‘wellness/self care’ in 2019?

Drink more water – been on my New Year’s resolution list repeatedly and I never seem to crack it, I like tea too much.

What is the one thing you are doing to help the planet in 2019?

Stop using cling film

What do you think everyone should do in 2019 to help the planet?

Eat less meat. I am not a vegetarian, but according to Friends of the Earth, meat and dairy production is responsible for 14.5% of climate changing gases – which shockingly is more than all forms of transport.

  • Speaking to probably Katherine yesterday and sorting out my order- returns, reorder and wanting quick delivery to the north of Scotland was such a pleasure. So much nicer than wrestling with the Internet! Thank-you very much, Kathleen Gunn
