A quick introduction to Vedic Meditation

At Asquith we love to celebrate all things that make you feel well which is why we wanted to share with you one of our favourite wellness techniques, Vedic Meditation. Both Alice and members of the team swear by this ancient practice so we asked Vedic Meditation teacher and founder of MindMojo, Anthony Thompson to share an introduction to the practice and some of its many benefits.

Anthony Thompson Meditation

Vedic Meditation has been around for thousands of years. Originating in India it has been passed down through the generations and is a mental technique practiced sitting with your eyes closed. You think of a mantra, a specific sound chosen for you by your teacher which quietens the mind allowing the body to deeply rest. After 20 minutes you come out refreshed, energised and amongst many other feelings, happy.

It’s best to practice twice a day for 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the afternoon and very quickly its many benefits will become apparent. Students notice a reduction of stress and anxiety, a boost in energy and creativity, increased productivity and a de-cluttered and sharper mind.

Calm Water

Vedic meditators experience mindfulness as a result of meditation. Mindfulness is not the practice but an outcome of meditation. It is usual for new meditators to immediately gain some significant stress release and improved sleep. As tension and anxiety melt away we are able to experience all that the world gives us with an awareness of the present moment, paying attention to our thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental way.

Working with a teacher to get you started on your journey is the best way to begin. An introductory course will allow you to feel comfortable with the mantra and the technique and it also enables you to share your first experiences with your teacher so you can expel any doubts or fears.

One very important aspect of being taught Vedic Meditation through MindMojo is the support you receive not only during the course, some of which is one-2-one but after you have learnt to be a meditator.  You are encouraged to come back and share your experiences so you can further grow on your journey.

Calm Water

Feeling healthier and happier as well as relaxed and calm, together with improved relationships, are just some of the many benefits from a regular Vedic Meditation practice as taught by Anthony.
